Getting away for a weekend trip is magical and so fun! This past weekend I went on a skiing trip to Breckenridge, Colorado and it was lovely! The whole town looked so beautiful with the fallen snow and I had a ton of fun skiing and sledding. We took a car for our weekend getaway so I was able to pack everything without worrying about any luggage weight or size restrictions. It would have been really easy for me to get carried away while packing for such a short trip and bring a ton of items and clothes as I had planned day and night time activities. The amount of clothes I brought with me could have added up really easily. However, I planned my outfits ahead and brought transitional pieces that could easily be worn during the day and night! In this post, I’m sharing all of my tips and tricks while packing for a weekend trip including the ultimate packing list for each item category!
My Luggage Set
I have an all Samsonite black luggage set from Costco that I absolutely love. It comes with a large luggage and a carry on luggage. I use the carry on luggage for all of my travels and it is amazing! Both luggages are durable, lightweight and including a rolling spinner wheel system that allows superior mobility. I found similar sets here and here!
Clothes and Luggage Organization
When it comes to packing clothes, I think it is really important to do two things before going on a trip:
- Checking the weather at your final destination
- Planning your outfits for each day
These two things will save you so much time and hassle on your trip! They will also prevent you from overpacking and bringing unnecessary clothes that you won’t have time to wear.
When packing, I use these awesome packing cubes to separate out my clothes. I have the black colored ones but they came in a variety of colors! I use a separate packing cube for sweaters, tops, pants, and undergarments. I also always bring an extra packing cube to use for worn clothes. Another option would be to use a separate packing cube for each outfit! You could store the whole outfit including undergarments in a packing cube to keep everything neatly organized and ready to go each day you’re on vacation!

Packing Pro Tip: Enlist the help of your furry friend like I did above. It makes packing so much more fun 🙂

Packing Makeup
My makeup travel bag is actually pretty small. I like to use sample products or travel size makeup products when traveling as it saves a ton of space. As I travel frequently, I have my travel makeup bag packed and always ready to go for any trip! I packed it once a while back and store it in my bathroom closet. This saves a ton of time while packing as I don’t have to go through my toiletries to find all of the makeup items I want to bring everytime I’m going on vacation. Note that it’s important to go through your makeup products regularly to make sure your items are not expired!

Packing Toiletries
I organize my toiletries in this cute toiletries bag from Victoria’s Secret. Similar options here (only $20!) here, and here. The toiletries bag I use has two compartments and comes with a clear bag that is perfect for airport travel! I try to only bring travel size items when I go on vacation as it saves a ton of space and is much more convenient. I also always pack all of my liquid items into clear ziplock bags in case any of the items spill and would make a mess.

Packing Miscellaneous Items
I also like to organize all of the miscellaneous items I bring in small bags. It makes traveling so much easier when every item has its place. I have a separate bag for my small electronic items like my cell phone charger, adaptors and computer charges. I like that all of the wires are neatly organized and don’t get tangled.
