At Home Gym Essentials

February 26, 2020 Comments : 2

I love working out in the comfort of my home. I think it saves a ton of time and I also feel the most comfortable exercising on my own without anyone staring at me. In this post I’m sharing my top at home gym essentials that will guarantee you have awesome and effective workout! You can perform a variety of different workouts with these at home gym essentials: from cardio to weight lifting. I guarantee you won’t be bored!

At home gym essentials

Kettlebell

If you want to tone your body and burn more calories while sitting throughout the day, it is important to do weight bearing exercises that engage and build your muscles. I love using a kettlebell as it is so versatile and can be used for many different types of workouts. My favorite kettlebell workouts are full body weight workouts like this one.

Bluetooth Speaker

Nothing gets me more pumped than upbeat music while I am working out. This bluetooth speaker is under $30 and is awesome for at home workouts. I connect it to my phone and play my workout playlist during my exercise routines. The music motivates me and helps me work harder!

Weighted Jump Rope

Jumping rope is an amazing workout that burns a ton of calories! It works your legs, arms and abs and is a great form of cardio. I like to use a weighted jump rope as it offers more resistance and is a little more challenging than a regular jump rope.

Workout Bench

Workouts benches are very versatile. You can use them to perform weight bearing exercises, ab exercises and leg exercises. This one is $50 and worth every penny.

Dumbbells

An at home gym would not be complete without any dumbbells. I like to use 10 to 20 pound dumbbells for optimal workouts. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to use even heavier ones.

Boxing Stand and Boxing Gloves

My favorite workout is boxing. It is a great way to release negative energy and I am always in a good mood after a boxing workout. My form is not the best but my main goal is just to always get an effective cardio workout when doing boxing. I recommend this boxing stand and these boxing gloves for your at home gym.

Cute Water Bottle

Whether you’re working out at the gym or at home, it is essential to stay hydrated. It is beneficial to drink water before, during and after your workouts to ensure your body remains hydrated. I recommend this adorable leopard print water bottle.

Soft Medicine Ball

I use a soft medicine ball for my ab exercises. I also like to throw it against my basement wall (we have an unfinished basement). It is a great workout and engages a lot of muscles!

Yoga Mat

Yoga mats are great for all types of fitness and exercise routines. They offer additional cushion and support and are great for yoga, pilates, pushups and ab exercises. I have this yoga mat and I like that it is extra long as I’m tall. I also like this one as it can be neatly folded and includes a carrier strap.

Working Out At Home vs. The Gym

I can definitely see how some people may be more motivated while working out at the gym in front of people, but for me it’s always been easier to workout from the comfort of my own home. I find that having all of the at home workout essentials I shared in this post motivates me to workout consistently and have effective and killer workouts at the same time! Let me know in the comments below if you prefer to workout at home or at the gym.

I prefer the gym because then I have no excuse to not workout.
