One of my favorite videos to watch on YouTube are Amazon hauls. I love seeing what goodies others have found online that may be useful for me as well. There is just so much products on the Amazon marketplace, sometimes it’s hard to tell what is actually good quality and worth purchasing. So I love when people share their finds. In this post I’m sharing my recent purchases that range from skincare items, beauty items, home items and even something to snack on! I hope you enjoy this post!
Before we dive into each item, I’d like to note that I generally don’t buy clothes on Amazon (aside from workout leggings and tops). I find the quality of the clothes on Amazon is usually not the greatest. I also feel like the price is generally not on par with the condition of the product when it comes to clothes. I’ve noticed that the price is more in line with the demand. If popular influencers or YouTubers share the Amazon clothes on their platforms, the prices of the products tend to go up even though the quality doesn’t. The clothes also always look so pretty on them but in reality they aren’t that nice. Filters and video quality make the clothes looks much better through the screen then they are in real life. I always don’t trust the reviews as I have received many messages on Instagram asking me to review a clothing item in exchange for receiving the item for free. I prefer to shop online at stores like Saks Off 5th or Last Chance where I purchase good quality designer items at much more affordable prices. It’s discount shopping at its finest. You can find some really great deals at these two stores or even at other brick and mortar stores (likes Nordstrom and Macy’s).
Now that my quick side note is over, let’s dive into each item from my most recent Amazon haul!
Leopard Print Satin Pillowcase
Satin or silk pillowcases are so much better for your skin and hair than regular cotton pillowcases. They feel silky soft against your skin and they do not press as hard on your skin as regular pillowcases. Overtime, this reduces facial creases that can turn into wrinkles. They are also just so much more enjoyable to sleep on! They feel much more luxurious. I could not resist this adorable leopard print one I found on Amazon! It also comes in a set with a scrunchie and eye mask for the ultimate leopard print lover!
Gold Elephant Tape Dispenser
In my recent Home Office Decor post I shared a ton of gold home office goodies that are all from Amazon. There is so many good finds in that post – I highly recommend you check it out. One of the items I ordered is this elephant gold tape dispenser and I am in love! It is larger than expected and the gold sheen is stunning in person. It makes me so happy just to look at it. I absolutely adore it for my home office.
Fun tidbit: my mom always says that elephants with raised trunks are supposed to bring you good luck. That’s why whenever I buy anything centered around elephants, I always make sure that their trunks are raised!
Another fun tidbit: my boyfriend and I share a mutual love of elephants. We bought these adorable his and hers elephant key chains (with raised trunks) for our car keys. They are also so adorable!
Sun protection and Skincare
It’s officially summer season and that means we should all take extra sun protection precautions. If there is one thing that you take away from this post I hope it’s the importance of using a safe sunscreen everyday! In this post, I’m sharing several sunscreen products as well as a new moisturizer that I purchased from Amazon.
Retinol Cream Moisturizer
This Bella Beauty Retinol Cream Moisturizer is cruelty free, vegan and contains natural ingredients like jojoba oil, Vitamin E and green tea. It also contains 2.5 active retinol which helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. It is only $15 so I am so excited to use this product all year long in the morning and at night.
Australian Gold Tinted Face Sunscreen
One of my goals for this year is to minimize wearing foundation. However, I still have acne scars that need covering so I was on the hunt for a good tinted moisturizer or sunscreen. I found this Australian Gold Botanical Sunscreen with SPF 50. It is a tinted face mineral lotion that’s perfect for the summer on days where you don’t want to be wearing a ton of makeup but still need coverage like I do. It’s available in multiple shades, it’s cruelty free and under $15. I highly recommend it.
Sun Bum Face 50 Sunscreen
As I shared in my skincare post, my two go to sunscreens over the past several years have been the Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen or the Naturopathica Daily UV Defense Sunscreen. They are both amazing physical sunscreens but quite expensive (over $60 each). I wanted to find a good alternative that still protects my skin from the sun’s rays but that does not contain harsh ingredients and chemicals. My other very important requirement is that the sunscreen is cruelty free. I just cannot stand the thought of some poor animal being subjected to sunscreen testing in a cramped cage without ever seeing daylight. It breaks my heart. As I was researching, I stumbled upon this cruelty free sunscreen from Amazon – it is the Sun Bum Face 50 Sunscreen Face Lotion. It’s good for everyday use over makeup. However see my important note below!
Alba Botanica Hawaiian Sunscreen
When it comes to body sunscreens, I prefer the ones in spray form as I find them so much easier and faster to apply. I also wanted one that is cruelty free and vegan. This Alba Botanica Hawaiian Sunscreen came up in my search and I have been using it for the past month. I can definitely tell that it does block the sun’s rays and protects my skin from sunburn. I have not been sunburned at all while using this product and it’s been quite hot and sunny over the past month here in the Midwest. I also enjoy the coconut scnent.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I was recently doing research on sunscreen and since purchasing the two sunscreens above (Sun Bum and Alba Botanica), I have decided that I will not be repurchasing them. I looked through the ingredients and both include chemicals that could potentially disrupt the endocrine system and impact our hormones. One chemical that I am specifically concerned with is homosalate. I bought multiple bottles of these sunscreens so I will use them up but the next sunscreens I purchase will be physical sunscreens (like the Naturopathica one).
There are two main types of sunscreens on the market: physical sunscreen and chemical sunscreens. Physical sunscreens sit on top of our skin barrier and reflect the sun’s rays. They typically contain minerals like titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Chemical sunscreens on the other hand absorb into the skin. I’ve read articles that some of these ingredients could be harmful. Some experts say that some of these chemicals (like oxybenzone, avobenzone and homosalate) can lead to hormonal disruption and even skin cancer, the very thing that sunscreens are supposed to protect us from! As I am not a medical professional or expert in this field, I highly encourage you to do your own research and choose the sunscreen that you feel is right for you. As for me, I have decided that from now on I will only be purchase physical sunscreens.
Heart Shaped Rose Gold Spoons
One of my favorite breakfasts lately has been chia seeding pudding (you can find my easy 5 minute recipe here). I make the chia seed pudding in large mason jars and these heart shaped long spoons are perfect for these types of large containers. They are also just so darling! The set (for just $6) comes with two spoons that are in a pretty rose gold color and a gold color. I love the heart shaped end and it makes me so happy using it. It’s these little things that make our ordinary lives more special.
Brazil nuts are a great source of selenium. Selenium is an important mineral our bodies need for healthy cognitive function and fertility. I eat one brazil nut a day as it contains just over the recommended adult amount of 55 mcg of selenium. I keep these in my fridge so that they stay fresh and crisp for a long time.
“It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way“
One of my favorite ways to spend the time is reading. It is so relaxing and I can often get lost in a book. I love reading all kinds of books and lately have been reading a lot of material on mental health, self strength and self help. I bought this book entitled “It’s Not Supposed To be This Way” by Lysa Terkeurst as I have read one of her devotional before and enjoyed it. It’s Christian centered self help where Lysa shares how to move forward past painful situations and deal with stress and anxiety. So far it has been a good read. As you can see in the photo I also purchased the accompanying study guide (accidentally I might add) and these blue light blocking eye glasses!
