Tried and Tested Cruelty Free Skincare From Amazon (Perfect For Sensitive Skin)

January 7, 2021 Leave a Comment

Amazon carries an incredibly extensive list of cruelty free brands with literally thousands of products to chose from and new ones being added daily. The list of products can be overwhelming and it can be hard to decide which items are worth purchasing. If you have been overwhelmed by the online skincare inventory, you’ve come to the right place. In this post, I’m sharing my tried and tested cruelty free skincare from Amazon that is perfect for sensitive skin. I personally use all of these products and can attest to their quality and effectiveness! They are all affordable, last a long time and worth repurchasing!

Retinol Moisturizer Anti Aging Cream for Face and Eye Area

I am already on my second bottle of the Bella Beauty Retinol Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid. It is an anti-aging moisturizer formulated with a blend of 2.5% Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid, Jojoba Oil and antioxidants that are perfect for sensitive skin. I have tried and tested this cruelty free $15 moisturizer and absolutely love it. It makes my skin feel soft, plump, and hydrated. It also absorbs super fast and does not leave a greasy residue.

The best part is that I’ve noticed a dramatic difference in the amount of breakouts I get ever since I started using this moisturizer. The combination of high grade retinol, Vitamin E and hyaluronic acid does wonders for the skin. If you also have sensitive skin and struggle with breakouts or want to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, I highly recommend this product.

P.S. If you’re looking to splurge on a clean beauty and cruelty free moisturizer, I also highly recommend the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream. It’s totally worth the price. It is a dewy rich cream that feels so luxurious on the skin and intensely hydrates any dry spots and patches. I have very sensitive skin and the Tatcha brand does not irritate my skin at all. A little goes a long way too. I use it once a day and it lasts a few months. It’s one of my holy-grain skin care products! You can purchase the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream Moisturizer on Amazon or Sephora.

DRMTLGY Anti Aging Clear Face Sunscreen and Facial Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 45

My two go to sunscreens over the past several years have been the Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen or the Naturopathica Daily UV Defense Sunscreen. They are both amazing physical sunscreens but quite expensive (over $60 each). I wanted to find a good alternative that still protects my skin from the sun’s rays but that does not contain harsh ingredients and chemicals. As I was researching, I stumbled upon this cruelty free sunscreen from Amazon: the DRMTLGY Anti Aging Clear Face Sunscreen and Facial Moisturizer. It’s good for everyday use over makeup and protects the skin with broad spectrum SPF 45. It provides antioxidant protection that combats skin-aging free radicals associated with ultraviolet (UV) and infrared radiation. For those of you with sensitive skin, I’m happy to report that it does not clog pores, is not greasy or sticky and it does not leave a white cast residue!

Important Note on Sunscreens for Sensitive Skin:

There are two main types of sunscreens on the market: physical sunscreen and chemical sunscreens. Physical sunscreens sit on top of our skin barrier and reflect the sun’s rays. They typically contain minerals like titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Chemical sunscreens on the other hand absorb into the skin. I’ve read articles that some of these ingredients could be harmful. Some experts say that some of these chemicals (like oxybenzone, avobenzone and homosalate) can lead to hormonal disruption and even skin cancer, the very thing that sunscreens are supposed to protect us from! As I am not a medical professional or expert in this field, I highly encourage you to do your own research and choose the sunscreen that you feel is right for you. As for me, prefer to only use physical sunscreens like the DRMTGLY SPF.

Era Organics Tea Tree Oil Face Cream

If you have sensitive skin and struggle with breakouts, my cruelty-free skincare recommendation for you is the Era Organics Tea Tree Oil Face Cream. Tea tree oil is an amazing anti-inflammatory ingredient that combats acne and has been used as a skincare remedy for centuries. This product helps to soothe and nourish the skin, in addition to fighting breakouts and balancing oily skin. I apply this before my regular moisturizer and a small amount goes a long way!

Tru Skin Naturals Vitamin C Serum

This anti-again Vitamin C Serum is a must for anyone looking to hydrate their skin, decrease hyperpigmentation and tackle age spots and wrinkles. It contains hyaluronic acid which helps target aging and prevent wrinkles. This is also my secret weapon for acne scars!

If you’re not already using a Vitamin C Serum, here are some benefits that might persuade you to try it:

Vitamin C Serum benefits:

  • Vitamin C helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • It helps to increase collagen production.
  • It reduces discolorations, hyperpigmentation and dark spots.
  • It helps to brighten the complexion.
  • It protects against pollutions and other free radicals.

The Tru Skin Naturals Vitamin C Serum is amazing for targeting discolorations and scars. I highly recommend it as an affordable and effective scar treatment!

Why Cruelty Free?

A products is designed as cruelty-free if it has not been tested on animals. There are numerous reasons why I recommend cruelty free skincare and makeup products. Foremost, I am a huge animal lover and cannot stand the thought of innocent animals being tested in laboratories. Ever since I watched Legally Blonde 2 back in high school, I’ve been more conscious of purchasing products that are cruelty free. If you haven’t seen the movie, Elle Woods goes to Washington DC to work on “Bruiser’s Bill” – a bill that would outlaw animal testing. The movie shows scenes of beagles being tested and locked up in cages for the profit of the cosmetics industry. It is absolutely heartbreaking.

In addition to being cruelty free, many of the products that are tested on animals are also vegan. This means that none of the ingredients are derived from animal sources. I am not plant based or vegan (I’m vegetarian), but anytime I can easily swap out products I use to vegan alternatives, I am more than happy to do so. It helps the animals & the environment, and it is something that I feel good about!
