I’m at a point in my life where I don’t want to spend a lot of time in the morning doing my makeup. I want to look natural but put together, not like I just rolled out of bed. That’s why I’ve perfected my everyday makeup routine over the past couple of years. My routine takes about 15 to 20 minutes in total. If I’m in a rush, I can even get it down to 10 minutes. I love this look as the makeup looks natural but offers good coverage. Below I share with you step by step how I achieve my effortless look.
Let me know in the comments below if you have any questions about this routine and your makeup tips and tricks!
Step 1:
Clean and hydrated skin is critical to achieving a flawless but natural makeup look. That’s why it is so important to hydrate and use a moisturizer before applying foundation or any kind of powder onto your skin. As I’ve shared in my in depth skin care routine (here!), I use the Tatcha Water Cream. It feels like butter and keeps my skin hydrated and smooth. I highly recommend this product.
Step 2:
While my skin is absorbing my moisturizer, I apply eyeshadow. My current favorite for my everyday makeup look is the Milani Eyeshadow Palette from the Bare Necessities Collection. The colors are natural, highly pigmented and good quality. I also love the Milani brand as their products are cruelty free.
For my everyday go-to look, I apply the tan shimmery color on my whole eyelid and the shimmery brown color in my crease to give my eyes more dimension. If I have any fall out, I use a clean towelette to wipe the skin around my eyes.

Step 3:
After applying eyeshadow and cleaning out any excess fall out, I apply my foundation. I use a wet beauty blender sponge to apply foundation as I find that it creates the most natural look without any streaks. I add a pea-sized amount of foundation onto the beauty blender and then gently pat the beauty blender onto my skin. I usually add two layers of foundation as I like a full coverage look that covers blemishes and acne spots.
The foundation that I am currently using is the Kat Von D 24 Hour Lock It Foundation. This foundation provides full coverage and helps mattify my skin. I like that it lasts all day (when I set it with setting powder). I also like the brand as they are cruelty free.
Step 4:
The next step is filling in my eyebrows. I used to have very thick and bushy eyebrows as a teenager so this step doesn’t take me a very long time. I now upkeep my eyebrows and trim them regularly to make sure that they don’t get unruly. I fill any patches and holes with the Benefit Eye Pencil. I love how smooth it goes on and that the pencil is thin as I can essentially create the looks of real hair by simply drawing them in.
Tip: I think it’s important to fill your eyebrows in before setting in your foundation with a setting powder, especially if use use a gel pod for your eyebrows. The eyebrow product sticks to the foundation and it lasts longer if you apply in this order.
Step 5:
After filling in my eyebrows, I apply concealer under my eyes to brighten my face and conceal dark circles. I apply the concealer in an upside triangle shape underneath my eyes using my beauty blender.
Step 6:
I have combination skin that becomes oily during the day so I set my foundation and concealer in using a mattifying setting powder. I’ve tried several but my favorite one of all time is the Kat Von D translucent setting powder. It helps eliminate shine and keeps my makeup in place all day. It is transculescent so it doesn’t affect the color of my foundation. I highly recommend it.

Step 7:
After setting in my foundation, I lightly contour my face with a bronzer and blush. I use the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer and a Milani blush in the color Luminoso. It is such a pretty peach color! Milani is also another cruelty free brand that I highly recommend.

Step 8:
The final step of my makeup routine is applying mascara. I find that this takes me the longest as I like to make sure my lashes look long and thick. I use the CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Mascara in the color Very Black. I love this mascara as it lengthens and volumizes my lashes. It also lasts all day and I haven’t experienced any fall out while using it. It’s a bonus that CoverGirl is also a drugstore brand that is cruelty free!
